It’s hard to believe we are well into the better half of our first season here at Eagle Falls Lodge. Everything is going great, but we’re still trying to find time for writing blogs. We finally have pictures from the previous weeks so we can get the blog updated! We encourage everyone to exchange pictures from your week on Thursday night so you can show off your impressive catches. If we don’t get your pictures we cannot put them on the blog or on the picture tables for next season. As a reminder please bring your fishing licenses and outdoors card with you to camp! The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources has strict regulations that indicate you must always carry both while on the water.
Otherwise the fishing remains exceptionally well. We’ve had 12 master angler entries into our drawing for the Catch and Release Replica Program and we look forward to adding more! Check out some of the big fish caught in the last few weeks!
Week 6
We had another great group of people during this week! Lots of fish were caught and memories made. After the guest arrived on Saturday we headed into town on the party boat to watch the fireworks in town. Let me tell you for Red Lake being at the end of the road they had a pretty good firework display! Red Lake celebrated its 150th Canada Day so the festivities were very special!

After a successful week of guests we welcomed our mid-season off week with many smiles and excitement. We tackled a few projects and got to explore Red Lake a little more. Ben and his son, Connor portaged to Paulore Lake looking for the elusive muskie. They did not have any luck, but as with any lake fishing changes day to day. You can’t expect to fish a lake and always come up with a massive catch. We know there are some big muskies… we just have to be patient. During that week we also fished some areas close to Slate Bay. While in that area we checked out the Lime Kiln and mining museum as well. Later that week we invited the Aiken’s (previous owner’s of EFL before Travis and Carrie) out to the lodge for supper. We had a great evening with them. They even shared some of the cool history about the lodge that even after 9 years of being a guest we didn’t know! Next time you are at the lodge ask about the finger prints covering the walls in the main cabin!

Overall we’ve had a great last few weeks and look forward to the remaining weeks of our first season! The guests have been awesome, fishing has been great, and the views have been absolutely breathtaking!
