You guys know the feeling.
Knowing you are headed out of the office and away from work for vacation. Setting the vacation auto-response on the email and giddily walking out of the building knowing that for the next number of days you will be unreachable by choice. That is certainly a piece of the magic at Eagle Falls Lodge – the remote seclusion it offers from all the major distractions and demands of everyday life.
Well, we crossed back into the states this past weekend and experienced our normal culture shock of returning state side. I had an actual moment of being totally overwhelmed as I tried to replace my phone at an AT&T store. The guy used the phrase “in the modern era” more than once. It took a lot for me to not tell him that I had literally been living in the woods for the past 4+ months. I’m not sure Victor would have truly understood. I got my stupid phone (it always takes me a few weeks to adjust having it again) and walked outside. I sat down by a tree, closed my eyes and took a deep breath. There truly is so much unnecessary consumption and abundance of choice here in the modern era. It can be frightening how I recognize it so clearly when we first return, but then quickly slip back into my old habits and comforts.
Woah, didn’t mean to go there, but there you have it.
All this to say, WE are setting our vacation auto email response as we will be traveling for the next several weeks. If you are trying to get ahold of us, be patient. Email is best and we will get back to you when we can. We will be officially home on October 10th. We will update any remaining availability for 2017 at that time and will get back to each of you. Thanks for understanding!
